Anti-Homocysteine Support

Lower Blood Homocysteine Levels Naturally With Key B Vitamins

Homocysteine is one of the key indicators of cardiovascular health and cognitive function. Elevated blood homocysteine is associated with aging and obesity, and is an independent risk factor for CVD. Research also shows that elevated homocysteine is associated with altered body composition in both adults and children. Research shows that folate (the L-5-MTHF form) and vitamin B12 are key vitamins that promote the reduction of homocysteine levels.

Elevated Homocysteine Levels and Heart Disease
The Western Hemisphere leads the world in the percentage of population with heart disease. For many years now, doctors have blamed eating the wrong type of food, overeating, too little exercise, smoking, and stress as the major risk factors. The latest research has added a few more, such as free radicals, pollution, poor circulation, certain drugs and chemicals, undetected infections, and a decreased ability of the blood to digest protein, which may lead to the formation of blood clots. When protein is no longer broken down due to insufficient protelytic enzymes, the most likely consequences are heart attacks, phlebitis, and strokes.

The major physical cause of coronary heart disease, however, is the overeating of animal protein. When stored in the body, protein becomes one of the greatest risk factors of heart disease and most other diseases as well. One of the latest finds as to the cause of arterial damage and inflammation is the protein homocysteine, found in high concentrations in meat. This substance is now believed to be the main reason behind blood clots triggering heart attack.

The Revealing Role of Homocysteine- Excerpted from "Timeless Secrets of Health and Rejuvenation" by Andreas Moritz
Researchers discovered that the toxic, sulphur-containing amino acid homocysteine (HC) promotes the tiny clots that initiate arterial damage and the catastrophic clots that precipitate most heart attacks and strokes. HC is a consequence of the normal metabolism of the amino acid methionine, which is abundant in meat and dairy products. Normally your body has a built-in defense mechanism against homocysteine buildup; it transforms it into a harmless substance called cystathionine, which is flushed from the body in the urine. However, regularly eating proteins greatly undermines this ability. [Reducing and/or eliminating protein and dairy from your diet, and incorporating] foods that are high in folic acid have been shown to drastically lower homocysteine levels and thereby reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.

The Preferred Form of Folic Acid
Anti-Homocysteine Complex features a metabolically active, natural form of folate called L-5-methyl tetrahydrofolate (L-5-MTHF), a special form of folic acid for greater bioavailability. Unlike typical folic acid, L-5-MTHF requires no extra steps to be absorbed and utilized by the cell. This is important because the ability to metabolize folic acid may be altered in up to 40% of the population due to liver congestion from alcoholic use, metabolic imbalances, chemical exposure, etc. These individuals may benefit from supplementation with the active metabolite, L-5-MTHF, over other forms of folate.

Among its many benefits, L-5-MTHF is the only folate metabolite that crosses the blood-brain barrier and promotes healthy homocysteine levels. It is also intimately linked to nucleotide synthesis, important for sustaining a healthy immune system. Anti-Homocysteine Complex features the natural L-isomer form of 5-MTHF, the preferred form over the unnatural D-isomer or mixed D-L isomer forms, because it is the only isomeric form used by the body.

Vitamin B12 (Dibencozide)
This formula uses only the preferred form of vitamin B12 as dibencozide, the fully reacted coenzyme of vitamin B12- not the less effective form of B12 such as cyanocabalamin. Vitamin B12 has been recognized for its ability to promote the production of red blood cells, increase attention span and concentration, increase the production of growth hormone, and promote the integrity of the immune system.

Vitamin B6 (p-5-p)
This formula uses the preferred form of vitamin B6, the fully reacted coenzyme form of vitamin B6, pyridoxyl-5 phosphate, rather the cheap form, pyridoxine hydrochloride. Vitamin B6 is a water-soluble B vitamin that supports healthy adrenal hormone production and regulation. It also supports the body’s production of energy, growth and development, healthy stress response, hormone balance and homocysteine metabolism.

Trimethyglycine (TMG)
TMG is also called glycine betaine, but the name trimethylglycine signifies that it has three methyl groups attached to each molecule of glycine. In the body, TMG donates one of its methyl groups to cellular DNA, which may help protect DNA against damage and premature aging. When a TMG methyl group is donated to a molecule of homocysteine, it is converted first to methionine then to  S-adenosylmethionine (SAMe). No safe level of homosysteine has been established, suggesting that taking nutrients like TMG could lower the risk of heart attack and stroke, in addition to protecting DNA.

The Entire Phosphatidyl Family
Anti-Homocysteine Complex also features the entire phosphatidyl family, including phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylserine, phosphatidylethanolamine and phosphatidylinositol – made with non-GMO European sources. All 4 phosphatidyl members provide far superior support over just phosphatidylcholine alone. Together, they synergistically support healthy blood lipid levels, increased integrity for healthy cellular membranes and superior cell-to-cell communication, superior brain function, including memory, focus and attention benefits and support for healthy immune system function.

European Hyssop
When homocysteine levels are elevated, increased immune system support is often needed. The premier, nonhybrid European form of hyssop is included in this formula to provide superior benefits for immune system support. Hyssop (Hyssopus officinalis) has been effectively used for immune system concerns for centuries by many different cultures. Since biblical times, it has also been revered as a premier blood cleanser.
