Naturally-Occurring Carnosine for Brain, Nerve & Muscle Cell Support. Premier Anti-Aging Support!

Carnosine is a dipeptide formed from two amino acids, betalanine and l-histidine. It is naturally found in the body in the locations where it is needed most--nerve and muscle cells. Carnosine is nature's way of helping to slow the aging process. It is a powerful antioxidant, prevents the cross-linking of proteins and helps extend the life of key building block cells, such as DNA, lipids and proteins. Supplementing carnosine may be an effective way to slow aging and prevent free radical damage.

Powerful Antioxidant
As we age, proteins are subject to attack and damage by oxidation and glycation. Oxidation occurs when free radicals attack the molecules in the body. Carnosine is a powerful antioxidant capable of combating oxidation. It is capable of quenching the strongest free radical, the hydroxyl radical. When proteins are damaged, antioxidants attempt to repair the damage or remove the damaged protein from the body. Glycation occurs when protein and sugar cross-link, resulting in the loss of skin elasticity, neurodegeneration and the formation of countless free radicals. Antioxidants help fight against oxidation, but are unable to combat glycation. Carnosine, however, has been shown to work powerfully against glycation.

Protein Cross-Linking
When proteins cross-link, they often form AGEs (advanced glycation end products). MDA (malondialdehyde) is a substance that causes protein cross-linking and AGE formation. With the formation of AGEs comes significant aging, resulting in everything from wrinkles to brain degeneration. Studies have proven carnosine capable of preventing the cross-linking between proteins, thus protecting the body from AGEs.

Carnosine In the Brain
Copper and zinc are both necessary minerals for the brain to transmit impulses. However, excess copper and zinc can be toxic to neurons. Furthermore, when copper and zinc metabolize abnormally, senile plaque formation occurs. This is a common occurrence in Alzheimer's Disease. Fortunately, carnosine is found in high abundance in the brain and is a copper and zinc chelator. The carnosine binds excess copper and zinc, as nature's way of protecting the neurons from toxicity and plaque formation, which helps prevent brain degenerative diseases.

  Key Benefits:

  • Multifunctional dipeptide; brain chemistry protection and anti-aging support
  • Helps prevent neuronal injury
  • Most effective glycation fighter naturally produced by the body
  • Protects proteins from cross-linking, including cross-linking of the eye’s lens and cross-linking of skin collagen (as in wrinkles)
  • Protects brain cells from excitotoxicity
  • Helps restore youthful skin appearance; helps prevent cellular senescence (aging)
  • May help prevent muscular atrophy
  • Protects proteins from formation of protein carbonyls, the prime marker of protein damage
  • Inhibits damaged proteins from damaging healthy proteins and may help prevent accumulation of damaged proteins
  • Rejuvenates damaged cells; helps increase their lifespan
  • Can help prevent DNA chromosome damage
  • May help prevent LDL lipid peroxidation
