Malic Acid Powder  - is used in the food processing industry as a "tart" or "sour" agent.  Remember those sour gummy candies you loved as a kid? The powder on the outside of the candy is malic acid.  It occurs naturally in a wide variety of unripe fruit, including apples, cherries, and tomatoes, and is also used as a flavoring and in the aging of wine.
