Superoxide dismutase, or SOD for short, is an enzyme which converts the superoxide free radical to hydrogen peroxide, thus functioning as a super antioxidant, one of the most important and spectacular enzymes in the body. Every cell in the body uses SOD to combat damaging free radicals produced by normal cellular reactions.
